It is not a rare thing that a global blockbuster movie be remade into a novel, tv series, comic book and the list goes on. Sometimes this occurs with stories that have slowed down or decreased in popularity over time, but it has been less common to see franchises that were very successful in their original form being adapted for different mediums. But Blizzard Entertainment did so by adapting their ever-popular Warcraft video game series into the fantasy epic Warcraft: The Beginning of War film. The source of gamer displeasure was due to Activision's apparent effort to prevent WoW players from watching the movie without purchasing the game on DVD or Blu-ray disc following continued complaints about WoW being "ruined" by doing so. Yet, it has been proven that Blizzard's film adaptation of their highly successful video game is a very big hit in the world of fantasy entertainment. The movie is not a strict translation from its video game counterpart, but rather a different interpretation to make a more cinematic story with a simpler and more straightforward plotline. The Warcraft movie released in June 2016 with an impressive cast and crew behind it. Duncan Jones is known for his work on Moon, Source Code and the highly acclaimed British drama-thriller movie "Source Code", which was praised by critics for its stylish presentation of an original concept. Jones was chosen by Blizzard to direct the Warcraft movie after they saw his indie short film, "Mute" (2008), which he later developed into the feature film "Moon" (2009). The Warcraft movie's cast is also composed of Rupert Friend who demonstrated quality acting in movies like "The Young Victoria", James Cosmo who portrayed Lord Umber in the TV miniseries "Game of Thrones", Paula Patton who played Miss Sloane in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and many other noted actors. As for its cinematography, every shot was skillfully crafted with great attention to detail. If there is something Warcraft lacks, it may be the cinematography, but the images and scenes were impressive and well done. The story begins with a young human boy named Medivh who dreams of becoming a great mage one day. He has many talents and skills that make him an exceptional student in magic and the art of war. His life changes unexpectedly when he comes across a dark elf assassin named Durotan (played by Ben Foster), who tries to murder Medivh. The two of them battle fiercely, but Medivh's powers are too strong to defeat Durotan. Fortunately, Medivh decided to spare his life. The story then transitioned into the way that the orcs came into being, which was different from the video game. The film shows how Doomhammer was born, who was arguably one of the Orc's greatest warmongers. The next scene transitions into Gul'dan (played by Daniel Wu) who is a former warlock apprentice under Medivh's father Aedelas Blackmoore (played by Dominic Cooper). The two boys developed a rivalry because of their competition in power and their training between them. cfa1e77820
